Welcome to our blog, Farm the Good Life. Here, we will share the Green Olive at Red Hill, winery and olive grove, story and discuss the wonderful farm experiences and products we have created since planting our first olive trees in 2003.
Our story began with a childhood dream and a plot of land in Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, where we planted the olive grove. Over fifteen years of cultivating our land, we’ve established a vineyard; built a farm kitchen, café and store; created farm classes, tours and tastings; created a range of food, cordials and wines; sourced useful kitchen products and cook books; and branched out into natural body care products.
The farm is our life, love and home, we reside down the end of the drive. Our friends say we have an enviable commute to work.
We are Greg and Sue O’Donoghue, founders of Green Olive at Red Hill, winery and olive grove, along with our two children, Sam and Sophie, two Kelpies (Rasa & Indi), one Maremmas (Pisa and Bacci), Witshire sheep, Isa Brown chooks and a handful of Indian Runner ducks. We think that’s enough for now, but you never know on the farm.
Our big vision is to help people live a better life through the goodness of the farm. Our purpose is to engage, inspire and nourish people with a whole farm experience - to farm the good life.
The most precious days are those spent with family, friends, locals and tourists on our farm. People are like animals and prefer to hang out in flocks, and everything in nature is connected… one wholesome family farm.
Our purpose to ‘farm the good life’ is what inspires us every day, and has a deep meaning for us. We encourage people to escape from those pressures of busy working and family lives. A good life for us is about connecting with nature, animals and people… sharing, watching and appreciating the ever-changing beauty of the farm. It happens when everyone is tuned into their senses, living in the moment, and nurtured by the generosity of the nature that embraces us. We encourage people to engage, learn and grow through a more connected, more conscious, more creative and more wholesome farm experience.
Our 27-acre farm is situated in the hinterland six kilometres from the bay and seven kilometres from the ocean. We are located one hour from Melbourne at Red Hill, in the beautiful wine-growing region of the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Our rich volcanic soils, cool climate and ‘between the bays’ location is the ideal place for growing good food, wine and ingredients for our body product.
We are most excited to share with you our natural olive based skin care range. We look forward to talking about all things skin care, as well as giving you information about our products, their benefits and how to get the most use out of them.
We hope that this will be an opportunity to engage with lovers of Green Olive at Red Hill, winery and olive grove, and to build a community based on generosity, warmth and of course, a love of good food, wine and skin care.
